

Mickey and Judy sell the song but it isn't enough to convince Mickey's father to give up his idea of trying to revive his act. It is these circumstances that give Mickey (Rooney's name in the show is also Mickey.) the idea to put on a show to raise money to keep the town social worker from having them all sent to a work farm. The parents of these kids are vaudevillians who have fallen on hard times (Hollywood movies have made vaudeville more or less irrelevant.) and are preparing to hit the road in what turns out be be a futile effort to make some money to take care of their families-who are being left behind to fend for themselves. Mickey's and Judy's characters are plugging the song written by Mickey to a song publisher to get Mickey's career as a songwriter started. "Good Morning" is introduced in the movie Babes in Arms by Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney (See Main Stage, above).
